Nova Bus to provide up to 397 hybrid buses to the Toronto Transit Commission

Saint-Eustache, Canada, April 18, 2022 – Nova Bus, a member of the Volvo Group and a leading North American transit bus manufacturer, announces it has been awarded an order of 134 hybrid buses by the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). The two-year contract also includes options for up to an additional 263 forty-foot hybrid buses.

Over the past nine years, Nova Bus has delivered over 1,200 buses to the TTC. The first Nova Bus hybrid buses were delivered to the TTC in 2018 and served as a benchmark for TTC’s Green Bus Program in its Head-to-Head eBus Evaluation in 2021, where the hybrid buses of Nova Bus exceeded expectations in all criteria categories, including vehicle performance, quality performance and vendor performance.

The TTC operates over 146 bus routes with a fleet of over 2,100 buses serving over 115 million passengers on an annual basis (2020 data), making it one of the largest transit agencies in North America.
