Nova Bus, in collaboration with the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA), is delighted to invite you to a webinar on the transition to zero-emission fleets, where Mylene Tassy, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at Nova Bus, will be hosting a fireside chat with Michael Van Kooy, Fleet Electrification and Facilities, Supervisor, Guelph Transit, City of Guelph, and William Cutler, Transit Fleet Director at Halifax Transit.

William Cutler and Michael Van Kooy will share their experience on the path to zero-emission fleets, and the challenges and lessons learned along the way. Expect insightful conversations from two leaders in the field!

Michael Van Kooy
Fleet Electrification and Facilities, Supervisor, Guelph Transit, City of Guelph

Michael Van Kooy is involved with all aspects of Guelph Transits Fleet Electrification project. This includes planning, requirements, bus orders, infrastructure, product implementation, inspections, and training.

Guelph Transit has ordered four BEB (Battery-electric buses) from Nova Bus slated for delivery in 2022 and has installed charging infrastructure for supply charging equipment from Siemens. Guelph Transit has started our implementation of a full fleet conversion to ZEB (Zero emission buses), BEB (Battery Electric Buses) as per the City of Guelph’s long-term initiatives.

Michael’s portfolio in Guelph includes being a Licensed Mechanic, Licensed Natural Gas and Propane Fitter, Automotive Dealership Manager, Transit Operator, Transit Supervisor and currently “Fleet Electrification and Facilities” Supervisor, with 13 years’ experience at Guelph Transit. Educated in Management, Project Management (PM), Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP).

Michael is a member of CUTA (Canadian Urban Transit Association) and CUTRIC (Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium). Michael is passionate regarding all aspects of public Transportation and public services. When not at work Michael gets outside and enjoys everything the great outdoors has toMo offer.

William Cutler
Director, Transit Fleet, Halifax Transit

William Cutler is the Director of Halifax Transit’s Fleet Department and leads a team of over 200 skilled people within various trades. For over 15 years William has been specification (spec) writing for not only other departments within Halifax Regional Municipality such as Fire, Police, and Municipal Fleet but assisting many other private businesses and transit providers in Canada as well. William holds a Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) designation from Northern Lakes College, and is proudly an Interprovincial Red Seal who sits on the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency Board. William is passionate about public service and public transportation, and advocates for skilled trades, in all motive power sectors, through public engagement and staff development.
